I hate labelling people. I dislike revelling in good achievements. I like to get on with my job, head below the parapet & just get on with things.

Therefore Friday made me feel wholly uncomfortable. The project I am working on has gone very well. The margin a considerable increase on original figures. So people are very happy. In fact now they're all labelling me their star surveyor....& god how I hate it. It puts your head above the parapet & then people expect you to achieve stuff all the time....dammit!

On other news, I now have just purchased a professional CD recorder on Ebay. Something to keep me busy in the next few weeks with a few mix CD's I think :)

& I also have another lead into a club, fingers crossed, if it gets it's 3rd room they want to try an industrial room amongst others....

Oh god & the shriek I have just heard now tells me my wife has just bought a piano.......

Where's that credit crunch again?

Dairy update

So 2 1/2 week into a dairy free (Or as much as I could manage) and I have to confess it does seem to have made some difference, albeit in the last few days.

It's still not right giving up cheese. I love cheese. ....hmmmm lovely cheese....but I do want to feel better & it's not quite been as bad as I expected.

Black coffee has been ok & I even found a saya milk that didn't taste too bad......pity it's the most expensive.

Sadly still not having ice cream, which is just wrong! Wrong I tell you........

Damn that Nurse, why can't it e Dairy free with several scoops of ice cream thown in dammit!

Anyway, I wet back swimming this morning & I have to exercise more so that getting fitter also helps the ol' lungs.....

Fingers crossed eh?

Dealing without Dairy

Last Tuesday I had to go for an occupational health screening.

Hearing good. Eye sight what it was, heart rate low as usual (48bpm)
Colestral 4.24 (Good needs to be less than 5.2) Blood pressure ok.

However, on the theory of my Asthma & Catarrh, I been suggested to live without diary products for 1-3 weeks to see if it makes any difference!!!!

I decided today to take the plunge 7 get it over with!

Holy shit! How many produts have something in them which may have lactose etc in them.....I think I'm likely to lose a little weight in the next 3 weks, as all my favourite go out the window!

Does anyone know what soya milk tastes like?

So no cereal at present, no milk in drinks, no cheese....NO BLOODY ICE CREAM!!!!!

After this, due to the IBS stomach complaint, I have to cut out Wheat to see if I have an intolerance to that too!

Jesus H Christ on a bioke, next time you see me I may be half the man I was.

ps: Black coffee tastes fine :) ....black tea doesn't :(

An Eventful Weekend

Phew, what a busy weekend that turned out to be.

Friday Evening I decided to pop down to the TUC to check on a few things for Electrocute.
1) So now I have definately confirmed that the bands will no longer be on an Electrcoute night. Always worth checking as Sharon was supposed to speak to Buk & Skit & you never know what happens to put a spanner in the works.
2) Electrocute in December will actually be delayed for New Years Eve! Par-ty! Par-ty!
3) I desperately need to sort flyers for Electrocute!

Amongst other things, I watched bags of blue flashies heading into Reading centre, which was later described as a warzone. I'm quite happy to be in the alt scene. These things never seem to happen with it in the main.

I've also embarked on getting a web site together, for which I am currently writing the content for. Watch this space, it will be a very useful tool for me.

Saturday I headed off for my mate Chris' stag(ish) do. We'd got him very very drunk on the Monday, so this was the sophistimacated end of the deal.

So we started at "Go-Ape" Go Ape - Adventure playground 40ft up in the trees!!!
I pretty much hate heights, I get really bad sweaty hands & cramps in my feet. BUt i was determined to do it to try help get me over the issue & it's not as if I wasn't clipped on with a harness.
Result: One amazing afternoon in the trees, including zip slides & leaping out of tree on a tarzan swing, all of which I never used to be able to do......I don't intent to do parachuting or bungy jumping though, I'm not that mad!

Saturday evening we spent at the Shanpan Restaurant in Reading (Where Nora & I had our wedding reception). Nice to see the owners again & once again, just the best Chinese restaurant IMHO in Reading & many other places. You just can't fault the food.

Sunday
A quiter day taking the kids swimming with friends & their kids at the Rivermead centre & then home, where the weather once again finally allowed those lovely doors I put on the extention to be opened up & we could appreciate the sun.

Today I still ache from Go Ape, but now I just want to do it all over again. not only that, they have another 16 sites to try out :) Including one with a zip slide 35m high at the start & 426m long! Now that would be awesome!

Quiet weekend next weekend? POf course not, it's just in time for Electrocute :) Par-ty par-ty!

Unhappiness

Tonight has again proven to me how volatile my temper currently is for the smallest, stupidest things. I stopped drinking for a reason, I was sure my temper wasn't the reason, but it certainly seems to fuel it. Maybe tonight has demonstrated that I shouldn't do it anymore.

Despite things seemingly going really well with work, home & DJ'ing, I somehow feel that things aren't right with me, but I have no answers as to why. I have everything people could wish for. Bright, happy kids, nice home, understanding wife, yet somehow within myself there rages something which just burns away at me & doesn't feel happy.

Tonight yet again, one person proved to be a big friend, even in the face of my intolerance. I know I have one other, at least I think so, but of the other people I know, I'm pretty sure I don't know who to count on & actually count as a friend.

They say you meet may people in your lifes pathway, but from this, only 2-3 of them will be true friends and the rest, aquaintances that pass in the night, maybe longer if your luck holds. I'm not comfortable with this alleged fact.

I've hit one of those times when I wish I wasn't here & I really really don't like it.

Yes, on the back of a grand night Friday, at which people seemed to bounce round the dance floor for ages, I was also revelling in the fact I'd been told earlier in the evening, that as from 31st October, there will be no more Bands on the last Friday of the month!

Ok, Buk & Skit guys seemed to think differently, abut they are moving to fortnightly & I have spoken to Sharon @ the TUC to make sure B&S know they can't have the last Friday of the month!

So all in all, another step closer to world domination!! Mwah hah hah hah hah!

Now with 6 hours to play with, it's a whole new ball game to look at, space for Guest DJ's at last.

Added to this, I've been offered the blue room to run Electrocute on New years eve this year.
Can it get any better???

Recently Electrocute was dogged by technical problems, with disc's skipping & all sorts of silly shit.
Turns out the deck's feeder mechanisms were shot. So currently they're in being repaired.
I should have them back in time for July's Electrocute on the 25th!!!

3 weeks ago I had a blood pressure warning from the opticians. On a technical term, my blood vessel on the retina had "gone all wiggly". What with that and the recent asthma/hayfever combo, I'd been feelig a bit sorry for myself & absolutely shattered, as I was at Electrocute on Friday & really didn't feel too inspired overall. It was quite frustrating, especially afer May's technical problems with my decks skipping all over the place.
Still, today I took them to the Denon doctor's, hopefully it's nothig more than a service required.

A trip to the quacks produced a better esult & the blood pressure isn't high as such. Good news, although I could do with lowering it a bit.

Also knowing that all the stress in the last 12 months or so, house, baby, shit job to new job hasn't helped me get my head together, I found eating became a habit.
So, knowing I've become a fat bastard again....(shush! That bit doesn't need comment) & after much prevaricating about it, yesterday I finally took the plunge again & went back to the gym.
I didn't over do it. Surprisingly, as I normally do & this morning I didn't ache too much.....so at 6.30am.....yes I didn't know that time existed either!.....I went for a swim the following morning too.

I was feeling pretty good about it all, managed another gym trip & a swim, then chasing my son round the house larking about at the weekend I hurt my calf muscle. Today I made a dash through the rain to the car & made it worse.....I'm not enjoying this getting old shit. I'm not ready to lie down & pack it all in.

Asthma has been playing up too. This was getting better, but this weekend it's all flaired up again & I feel like shit.
Don't now how I will ever get fit in time for Infest now.
Almost feel like I'm wasting my time......which just ebds up making me feel even worse.....it's all a bit of a vicious circle at the moment.

So, I've finally decided to post a few bits up about the weekend, as I have finally found time after in amongst reading everyone elses!

The fact remains, I love Germany. It's a great country, with great beer, great music & life's pretty good there all in all. (OK, I grant you they really do need to work on their customer service a little, my wife, who is German, so I am allowed to say this, are somewhat blunt & sometimes typically have the manners in dealing with issues of a grumpy rhinocerous which has somehow been stung on it's anus).

Still, that aside wasn't the WGT great this year.....even if I had a poor day to band ratio. In fact I stayed an extra night this year to catch the opening parties, saw less bands than last year & have a worse band to day ratio.....I truely need to learn to how to get out of bed on time!

So Thursday, opening party. Finally met & spoke to Monsieur Weeks, somewhere between sets & after he'd had several drinks.....
Greetings Steve, nice to meet you.
Friday.....failed to see any bands.......major bad headache & blocked synnuses........bailed early.
Saturday, felt much better & failed to see Reaper, they were good apparently, but then so was Hocico. Good to see Covenant for the 1st time, although disappointed that he manaaged to forget words to one of the club classic's......
Sunday, I arrived at PArkbuhne to in time for Kloq, who were really very good. Followed by Inertia, who weren't. Tactical Sekt arrived to recover the situation & then Neuroticfish who was just fucking amazing!
Monday, I managed to see Deviant UK, who I thought were really good. Wonder why I needed to go to Germany to see them. But given some of the acts, at least they really wanted to entertain to audience & I think they did.
Saw Gothika out of curiosity. Would have been happier if the singer hadn't. The chap with the music box was mad & loved it. Great beats, great music.....then came the singing, which really I didn't take to.
I tried to catch Necessary Response, but the venue at Morris the Bastard just isn't big enough, nor cool enough, so I heard a song & went to get beer....& then a cocktail...or 4 ...or 5.

Best of all, was meeting all the people I met last year, plus new faces & bumping into familiar faces from the UK I ddn't know were going.
Mark (An Englishman in New York), Douglas (Mad Aussie), Lawrence (Mad American), Deviant UK, Skinjob, Stuart & Tan, Horny Simon, Mr Weeks, his mate Jurgen to name but a few. It was a good weekend.
Same again next year then!

I need some advice & help.

Electrocute has been going pretty well so far...at least I think so, apart from the bands, who eat into the Blue rooms time to do Electrocute, but I need to be spreading the word even more in an effort to prove to the venue, the night will be better without the bands, giving scope for guest DJ's etc.

Thoughts, help & advice much appreciated.....

We just got the news that Neuroticfish is finally calling it quits. It has been a bit quiet around the band the last few years since their release Gelb in 2005, but the official announcement has just been published that Neuroticfish will do a special goodbye performance at next year's Wave Gotik Treffen which takes place from 9-13 may 2008.

In the early 90ies Sascha Mario Klein decided to bring his alter ego Neuroticfish to life - inspired by bands like Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode. Fed up with the typical artistic differences between him and other musicians he quit his former band-activities. From this point on he concentrated his creativity to his neurotic visions and Neuroticfish was born.

Bleep is getting a run at the TUC.

Yep, I'm at least going to appease my need to DJ and keep my hand in.
I've managed to land a once a month night at the TUC rock night for the blue room for more industrial/EBM/Bleep from January!

That should keep all you bleep fans happy!.....I know I'm chuffed to bits about it.

so, 1st night will be 25th January by the looks of it, as it will be the last Friday of every month.

A weight off my shoulders

Today is a day I can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

I handed in my notice for this god awful job & I feel the weigh of the world being lifted from my shoulder & I can only sigh in relief that I can again see a light at the end of the tunnel & a fresh start for the new year.

In reality as it stands at the moment it really will be out with the old, in with the new when the new year arrives, give or take a day or two to be exact.

It's been wearing or more pointedly, grinding me down constantly this past few months & has become a source of great stress. What with everything else going on, the last thing I really needed was a job that made me feel like not getting up in the morning.

So the deed is done. I can move on & get back to feeling a lot happier.

Officially I haven't actually taken a new job yet & jhave that to agree after a couple more second interviews, but with that aside, I have one offer on the table if nothing else I'm not jumping without a parachute.

I hope that this time I find a better end result....

In September I bought porn for chief_heckler (10 points). Last Sunday I committed genocide... Sorry about that, 2nd_skin (-5000 points). Last Friday I turned gigib in for spitting (3 points). Last Monday I invaded Iraq, broke it, and couldn't glue it back together before Mom got home (-1012 points). In January I put money in mladyjade's expired parking meter (14 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-5985 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking!

So, I have I have a new baby, now 5 days old, I'm enjoying fatherhood 2nd time round much better this time than when Culann arrived.

However, tonight, as I sit here typing this, I should be 40 minutes into my Dropzone set, but I'm not because of the stupid venue.

I'm missin' spinning disc's, I'm missing the people & I'm missing a quality night out in Reading & I'm missing the planned wetting of the babies head.

This weekend has steadily gone down hill.

1st up, Nora's inducment appointment gets cancelled on the Saturday.
Then I spot an LJ post that Dropzone has had to be cancelled this month.
Then we spend 12 hours in the hospital waiting for a slot for Nora's inducement, only for it to be so busy we were sent home at midnight.
Then I find an addition to the Dropzone announcement stating that the venue has had a better offer & Dropzone is suspended until further notice until a new venue is found.

Gutted! Absolutely gutted.

It's been a bad weekend.

I am not happy.
